20th Annual Mount Cheam Lions Train Show

Good news! AbbyLUG isn’t dead! Just the website, but I’m fixing to change that and I’m starting off with last years (2017) Train and Hobby Show at Heritage Park in Chilliwack.

For this years theme we picked “Future City” and divided our display into four sub-genres that theme covers; Utopian City, Dystopian City, Post-Apocalyptic, and Recovering Post-Apocalyptic

The main city was absolutely packed!

This T:RON display really stood out.

Each section was divided with borders, some more heavily guarded than others.

The Post-Apocalyptic section had quite a wide variety of scenes ranging from an abandoned city and theme park to a Mad Max convoy.

The Recovering Post-Apocalyptic section included a sizable castle occupied by Star Wars minfigures, and a nifty fort made from salvaged parts like a camper trailer.

Even after the apocalypse the VW minibus lives on.

Be sure to come see our display next year when we’re planning on going the opposite direction with a 1950’s theme!

AbbyLUG at BC Homeschool Expo 2014

This was our first year being involved in the BC Homeschool Expo at Tradex in Abbotsford, and it was a great success! We enjoyed being a big part of the Fun Zone, providing kids an opportunity to build Lego creations of their own, as well as displaying many of our own creations and favourite official Lego models. From my informal polling, fan favourites included a Lego Snoopy house by Christian, complete with a brick built Snoopy and Woodstock, a modified Lord of the Rings Pirate Ship Ambush by Adele, and a fabulous Castle MOC by James.

DUPLO team build at BC Homeschool Expo 2014

The kids really got into the Lego spirit with some impressive teamwork in the Duplo area as well as many creative solo projects at the Lego System free build tables. Thanks to all the participants for their enthusiasm and we hope to see you all again next year!

AbbyLUG Display at Guildford Lego Store

If you get a chance to stop by the Lego store in Guildford Mall during the month of March, be sure to check out the Community Display Window. Fellow AbbyLUG member James and I are proud to present our Legends of Chima themed creation featuring the Croc and Lion tribes preparing to do battle. We had a lot of fun building it and I think it shows! Click the link below for pictures, and keep checking back every month at Guildford Lego Store for a new display.
